Oil-field services provider Halliburton has secured contracts for the next phase of field development of the Ichthys project off northern Australia.
The company has been awarded seven drilling and completion service contracts for the Inpex-operated Ichthys project, which is situated on block WA-285-P in the Browse Basin, Timor Sea, Western Australia.
The gas and condensate field lies deep in water at a depth of 280m.
According to Halliburton, the development campaign will start in March and is expected to last for three years.
Financial terms of the contract are undisclosed.
Under the contract, Halliburton will provide directional drilling, logging while drilling, liner hangers, surface data logging, drilling and completion fluids, as well as cementing services.

Halliburton Australasia region vice-president Jason Jeow said: “We are excited to win this work and to collaborate with INPEX to deliver our extensive drilling and completions services in addition to our digital capabilities in the strategically significant Browse Basin.”
The project is backed by support from the company’s Jandakot and Broome facilities in Western Australia.
The company is also planning to hire people locally in Broome to support the work.
In August last year, American firm McDermott and Baker Hughes secured contracts to provide a joint umbilicals, risers and flowlines (URF) and subsea production systems (SPS) solution for the Ichthys LNG field development.
In July 2018, Inpex began gas production from the wellhead of Ichthys LNG Project.
