Two-hundred and thirty new-build – announced and planned – gas processing plants are expected to begin operations globally between 2019 to 2023, according to a recent report by Globaldata.
North America leads with 117 new-build plants, followed by the Middle East and Africa with 32 and 24, respectively, the 39-page report about the global capacity and capital expenditure outlook for gas processing plants found.

Global gas processing capacity is expected to grow by 12 per cent from the current 586.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in 2019 to around 657.4 bcfd by 2023.
The Middle East is expected to add the highest gas processing capacity among regions by 2023, with about 21 bcfd. North America and the Former Soviet Union (FSU) follow, with 20 bcfd and 16 bcfd, respectively.
Among countries, the US is expected to add the highest new build capacity of 16.9 bcfd by 2023. Russia and Saudi Arabia follow with 13 bcfd and 7.8 bcfd of capacity additions, respectively.
