Wood has secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract to develop Honghua Group’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) platform in the West Delta area of the Gulf of Mexico.

The $12m contract involves completion of the design of the offshore platform-based natural gas liquefaction and storage facility.

Wood recently completed the pre-FEED for this project.

Under the project, Wood will configure the onshore gas pre-treatment plant, as well as its layouts, general utilities, feed gas processing and compression facilities.

“The project will enable transportation of LNG gas from the Texas Permian Basin to the offshore platform where it will be liquefied, stored and exported to global clients.”

Wood also be responsible for the transportation and delivery of the gas through the repurposed pipelines from the existing onshore Toca and Venice facilities in Louisiana to the offshore LNG facility.

Expected to be complete in 2020, the project will enable the transportation of LNG gas from the Texas Permian Basin to the offshore platform where it will be liquefied, stored and exported to global clients.

The contract also requires Wood to procure and develop the necessary technical documentation to receive a deepwater port (DWP) permit application.

The application will be submitted to the US Maritime Administration (MARAD), and include design details of the offshore, onshore and associated pipelines of the facility.

Wood will complete the initial designing of the full offshore gas liquefaction facility, which will be capable to produce up to 4.2 million tonnes of LNG per annum and store 300,000m³ of LNG.
