Seadrill, an offshore deepwater drilling company, has secured new charter contracts for three jack-up rigs.

The firm estimated the aggregated revenue potential would be $311m, inclusive of mobilisation fees and assignment specific rig modifications.

Seadrill Management CEO Alf C Thorkildsen said: "We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our activities in the Americas to include Colombia through our new customer Equion Energia."

One rig, Offshore Mischief, has been contracted by Equion Energia in Colombia for a firm period of 180 days. Operations are scheduled to start in first quarter of this year, in direct continuation of the rig’s existing contract. The value of the deal for the firm period is $33.2m, inclusive of $1.7m in mobilisation and demobilisation fees.

West Leda rig has been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil E&P Malaysia for development drilling offshore Malaysia. The project is for an 18 month period, with operations due to start in March, continuing its existing agreement. Estimated revenue potential is $75.5m, inclusive of a $1.8 million mobilisation fee.

Offshore Defender, currently operating in Brazil, has been awarded a contract by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company for drilling offshore Negara Brunei Darussalam. The four year contract is expected to start in the second quarter of this year. Revenue potential is estimated at $202.5m, inclusive of $9.0m in mobilisation fees and assignment specific rig modifications.
