New Wave Offshore Energy has been appointed to conduct the marine warranty survey (MWS) for ExxonMobil Guyana’s Whiptail development.

The Whiptail development is situated in the Stabroek block approximately 120 miles offshore Guyana.

This block boasts a multitude of prospects and represents multibillion-barrel un-risked exploration potential.

The $12.7bn Whiptail project, the sixth in a sequence of offshore developments within the Stabroek block, will receive risk management and safety oversight support from New Wave Offshore.

The company’s responsibilities include marine warranty services throughout various stages of the project, particularly overseeing the safe transportation and installation operations.

New Wave Offshore is set to provide an impartial review of the operational procedures to ensure compliance with the project’s agreed warranties.

New Wave Offshore Energy founder and chief executive officer Kyle Eddings said: “The Whiptail MWS award underscores New Wave Offshore’s growth and our commitment to supporting ExxonMobil Guyana’s offshore operations.

“We are thankful to ExxonMobil Guyana for the confidence they have placed in our technical capabilities, and we look forward to strengthening the partnership we have built working together over the past five years.”

New Wave Offshore’s chief strategy officer Megan Eddings added: “Our marine warranty survey capabilities combine specialised technical skills with a deep understanding of offshore energy project dynamics.

“The Whiptail contract award demonstrates progress in our strategy to be a leading marine assurance provider in the international offshore energy industry, and we are excited to demonstrate our capability to support complex, high-value infrastructure developments.”
