Steelhead liquefied natural gas (LNG) has initiated new legal proceedings against Cedar LNG, Pembina Pipeline, and ARC Resources in British Columbia, Canada.
The Vancouver-based LNG company accuses the defendants of wilfully exploiting proprietary information for the Cedar LNG project’s benefit.
The focus of the lawsuit is to halt ARC Resources’ involvement in the project, claim damages for the unauthorised use of Steelhead LNG’s information, and secure an injunction to prevent further alleged wrongful acts.
Steelhead LNG president Victor Ojeda said: “It is evident to Steelhead that, without relying on ARC Resources’ capacity commitment—enabled by what Steelhead believes to be a pattern of wilful and wrongful conduct—Cedar LNG and Pembina would not have been able to secure the substantial financial commitments necessary to reach a positive final investment decision.
“While Steelhead remains open to pursuing an amicable resolution, ARC, Pembina, and Cedar have shown little interest in doing so. As a result, Steelhead has no choice but to seek judicial intervention.”
Marty Proctor, former CEO of Seven Generations Energy and a current director at ARC Resources, is also named in the legal action.
