US contractor McDermott International and its joint venture (JV) partner Chiyoda International have announced that Train 3 of the Cameron LNG project has started producing liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The Cameron LNG project lies along the Calcasieu Channel in Hackberry, Louisiana, US.
It includes three liquefaction trains with an estimated export capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of LNG, or approximately 1.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d).
Last month, McDermott and Chiyoda introduced feed gas into Train 3 of the LNG project.
McDermott North, Central and South America senior vice-president Mark Coscio said: “I applaud the hard work and commitment of the entire joint venture project team whose focus on safety and delivery during this dynamic time brought Train 3 to the state of producing liquefied natural gas.
“The teamwork and diligence they have placed on safety and health as we navigate through the current Covid-19 pandemic has enabled us to continue our operations and deliver the project.”
