TGS has bought the US onshore petrophysical log database and related intellectual property from Petrophysical Solutions.

TGS is a US-based provider of geology, engineering and geophysical evaluations.

Interpretations of the petrophysical log database are obtained from a well log and core analysis of around 1,400 wells within major unconventional basins.

These will now be added to the existing TGS data library.

According to TGS, this data will allow customers to lower risks and raise the drilling success probability.

These interpretations will also help in optimising landing zones, wellbore trajectories and designs completion, helping to increase production.

The acquisition of the petrophysical log database will bring additional value to TGS.

TGS will add more value to the database by using LAS Plus (LAS+) premium digital well logs as an initial point for petrophysical interpretation.

The company noted that LAS+ are edited, depth-corrected and composed in order to provide curves with maximum coverage of depth.

In addition, the petrophysical logs will improve the efforts of TGS’ Data & Analytics, especially ARLAS – Analytics Ready LAS.
