E-commerce supply chain and analytics company GoExpedi has partnered with drilling firm Ensign Energy Services to provide a new technology tool to GoExpedi’s fleet of drilling rigs.
The new tool will enhance Ensign’s supply chain capability to support the company’s 24/7 drilling operations.
Ensign has chosen GoExpedi as its partner within the e-commerce, supply chain and logistics sector due to its innovation capabilities in the supply chain process.
Ensign global supply chain vice-president Rick Pingel said: “In GoExpedi, we found a team of talented individuals who have combined oil and gas industry experience with cutting-edge IT and analytical proficiency.
“GoExpedi has created a custom procurement platform for Ensign that allows rig managers to procure necessary materials and supplies directly from their rig site.
“Additionally, our operations and supply chain teams receive detailed data and analytics on all expenditures, providing a direct line of sight to our expenditures in real-time.”

By GlobalDataEnsign started rolling out the new platform in August and plans to stage the expansion across its entire fleet of drilling rigs.
GoExpedi will provide end-to-end services to Ensign, ranging from the customised procurement platform to geotag tracking of parts delivery to the Ensign rigs.

Ensign has operations across Canada, the US and internationally. The company provides contract drilling, directional drilling, underbalanced and managed pressure drilling, in addition to well servicing and rental equipment services.
In November 2018, Ensign won the bidding war against Precision Drilling for the ownership of Trinidad Drilling after 56% of Trinidad’s shareholders supported its unsolicited all-cash takeover bid.
