Inpex, via its subsidiary Japan Oil Development, has started oil production at the Nasr offshore oilfield in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Full development on the field, situated around 130km north-west of Abu Dhabi City, is under way and upon completion, production is expected to increase to 65,000 barrels per day.
The field is developed jointly by Inpex, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), BP and Total.
Production in the first development phase commenced using existing facilities of the Abu Al Bukoosh (ABK) and Umm Shaif oilfields, situated near the Nasr field.
Oil will be transported through an existing subsea pipeline to Das Island and delivered to customers in Japan and other Asian countries as Das Crude.
Inpex holds a 12% interest in the project, while ADNOC, BP and Total own 60%, 14.67% and 13.33% stakes, respectively.
