Ayatsil-B

McDermott International is to provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation (EPCI) and pre-commissioning services of the Ayatsil-C replacement jacket and associated deck installation as past of a contract awarded by Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).

Claimed to be Pemex’s largest discovery to date, the Ayatsil field is located in the Bay of Campeche, Gulf of Mexico.

The company plans to develop the field with four platforms and adjacent Tekel heavy oil field with one platform.

All of them would be tied to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

In addition, Pemex has plans to drill 43 wells in the project in water depths of 375ft-405ft.

McDermott International Americas, Europe and Africa vice-president Scott Munro said: "This is the fourth contract McDermott has received for the Ayatsil field and follows the successful delivery of the Ayatsil-B drilling platform in 2014 and installation of the Ayatsil-A offshore jacket, deck and piles earlier this year.

McDermott plans to complete the installation of all structures by using its in-house engineering and procurement experts, which include Mexico’s Altamira fabrication yard.

The company will also use Intermac 600 transportation and launch barge and heavy-lift Derrick Barge 50 vessel for this purpose.

The facilities will have a total weight of around 14,800t.

According to McDermott, the project is scheduled for completion during the fourth quarter of 2016.
