Siemens Energy has signed a deal to provide long-term maintenance services for the $16bn Santos Gladstone LNG (GLNG) project in Queensland, Australia.

The project is will be carried out in joint venture between Santos, Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), Total and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).

Siemens said the multi-million dollar deal is the company’s largest service order ever for its small gas turbine (SGT) product line.

The six-year deal entails preventative maintenance, remote monitoring, parts supply, and field service for 16 SGT-400 industrial gas turbines, including nine generator sets and seven compressor sets for three Santos GLNG sites in Roma and Fairview 1 and 2.

The SGT-400 gas turbine is used for simple-cycle applications, combined-cycle applications, and combined heat and power and power generation for the oil and gas industry.

The Santos GLNG Project will process coal seam gas (CSG) from the Bowen and Surat Basins into liquefied natural gas (LNG), and will include a 420km underground gas transmission pipeline, two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 7.8 million tonnes per annum and related port development infrastructure.

Santos as the operator of the project and holds a 30% in the joint venture, while KOGAS has a 15% stake and PETRONAS and Total hold a 27.5% stake each.

Construction is scheduled to commence this year with first LNG exports expected to start in 2015.
