Lundin Norway has started drilling on 16/4-10 exploration well on the Fosen prospect, 27km south of the Edvard Grieg field.

The company is drilling the well to test the hydrocarbon potential and reservoir properties at Jurassic sandstones level, located on the southern flank of the Utsira High, west of the South Viking Graben in the North Sea.

In December, Lundin Norway discovered oil in the Rolvsnes prospect in offshore Norway.

The Rolvsnes exploration well is located in PL338C licence south of the Lundin Petroleum-operated Edvard Grieg field in the central North Sea.

Lundin carried out extensive data acquisition and sampling in the reservoir and also performed a production test (DST), which achieved a production rate of 265 barrels of oil per day through a 36in / 64in choke.
