UK-based oilfield services company Petrofac has secured a new contract and the extension of an existing deal to provide engineering services for two international oil companies (IOCs) in Iraq, with an aggregate value of $100m.

Under the contract, aside from engineering, Petrofac’s scope of work includes construction management, commissioning and start-up services.

The latest extension comes after the company won new contracts worth $70m in the country in April this year, with the prospect of offering around 250 jobs.

The company has been operating in the country since 2010.

In Iraq, the projects completed by the company include Shell’s Majnoon oil field and Gazprom’s Badra oil field.

With respect to the Majnoon oil field, Petrofac provided early operational support, engineering and procurement, as well as construction management for the development of a new early production facility.

It is currently providing support in terms of engineering and facilities modification services at the oil field, and additionally working on the Rumaila oil field and Iraq crude oil expansion project.
