Malaysian company MISC Berhad has launched its Marginal Marine Production Unit (MaMPU 1) for use on oil and gas fields.

The fit-for-purpose FPSO is intended for development of marginal fields and will be initially deployed at Anjung Kecil oilfield in offshore Sarawak.

The field is currently being operated by Vestigo Petroleum on behalf of Petronas Carigali.

Converted from an oil tanker, the unit has a storage capacity of 318,000 barrels and has been designed to produce 15,000bpd of oil with 25Mscfd of gas handling capacity.

MISC has used low-pressure Sep-iSYS technology on MaMPU 1 that stabilises the crude received from the reservoir for safe storage and subsequent export to the market.

Through its condensate recovery system (CRS), the unit has been designed for increased oil production through recovery from unwanted flaring gas.

Separately, MISC also announced the delivery of its new 150,200 CBM Seri Camellia liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier to Hyundai Heavy Industries.

These new carriers incorporate technologies such as the integrated hull structure with four spherical tanks, and have been designed for energy efficiency with features that include emissions reduction, biodiversity management and end-of-life disposal.
