USPI has held a meeting regarding the Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification (CFIHOS) standards to improve information systems for offshore operators.
CFIHOS is a joint industry effort to standardise information on handover requirements for stakeholders across the supply chain.
The aim of this standard initiative is to improve information handover, cut costs and boost efficiencies in the oil and gas industry.
The standard has received the support from operators such as Shell, Chevron, BP, Total and Exxon; EPC contractors such as AmecFW, Technip, Petrofac and L&T; and technology providers such as Aveva, Intergraph, Datum360 and Kraken IM.
The two-day meet event was attended by more than 70 information professionals worldwide.
USPI director project leader Paul van Exel said: “It is fantastic to feel the motivation of the participants of the CFIHOS event and see what great potential CFIHOS offers to them.”

By GlobalDataFurther steps for CFIHOS include improving awareness among equipment suppliers and vendors to increase their engagement, as well as feed existing feedback into a new version of the standard.
Benefits offered by CFIHOS are many for stakeholders in the plant supply chain.
These include improved data integrity, reduced effort and cost for owner operators in specifying information requirements for their supply chains, and decreasing costs for contractors through a standardised set of requirements for data handover on every project. In addition, standardised and repeatable information requirements for equipment suppliers, and common definitions for all software suppliers are included.
CFIHOS project is a global initiative in coordination with ENAA, a Japanese consortium for EPC contractors.
