Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 10%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 25% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 12% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Production Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Transportation and Material Moving Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in oil and gas industry accounted for 24% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Sherwin-Williams, Solenis, Air Liquide, BP, and PI Industries. Together they accounted for a combined share of 24% of all future of work-related new jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Sherwin-Williams posted 825 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Solenis 667 jobs, Air Liquide 447 jobs, BP 423 jobs, and PI Industries 357 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 56.66% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the oil and gas industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 56.66% followed by India (10.16%) and the UK (4.33%). The share represented by the US was 0 percentage points lower than the 56.85% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
