French manufacturing company offering tubular solutions to the energy sector Vallourec has secured two contracts to supply line pipes for Buzios oil field development.
Vallourec will supply pipes for phases 6 and 8 of the oil field, which is operated by the Brazilian state-owned energy company Petrobras.
These orders comprise a total of 48,000 tonnes of line pipe and are in addition to the contract that was previously awarded for phase 7.
Situated off the coast of Brazil in the pre-salt Campos Basin, Buzios is one of the biggest deepwater fields in the entire world.
It represents 25% of the whole production of the Brazilian oil company.
Vallourec will supply 346km of subsea line pipes for the risers and flowlines in the Subsea Umbilicals Risers and Flowlines (SURF) package for phases 6, 7 and 8 of the project.
These line pipes will have CRA (Corrosion Resistant Alloy) coating and are mechanically lined.
Vallourec chairman and CEO Philippe Guillemot said: “These contracts strengthen Vallourec’s strategic positioning in Brazil, one of our key markets. It also shows the confidence our customers have in us, particularly in the continuity of our supplies, whether they come from Germany or Brazil.”
Vallourec has already made deliveries for Buzios 7. Deliveries of phases 6 and 8 are now in progress and will last through the end of 2023.
In May, Petrobras selected Subsea 7 to develop phase 7 of the oil field.
According to the agreement, Subsea 7 will be in charge of the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of approximately 126km of rigid risers and flowlines.
