Offshore seismic data company CGG has commenced the Foz do Amazonas 3D seismic reimaging project in the Equatorial Margin, Brazil.
The project is aimed to support the South American country’s Permanent Offer initiative, the main type of bidding for oil and natural gas exploration and production areas, in the Equatorial Margin.
Planned for completion by the end of 2023, the new 3D seismic reimaging project will merge more than 7700km² of existing public 3D seismic data in the Foz do Amazonas basin.
CGG said in a statement: “The area has a rich network of turbiditic fans and channels, made attractive by its geologic proximity to Guyana and Suriname and the recent success stories along the South Atlantic conjugate margins of West Africa.”
The reimaging project is supported by industry funding.
CGG earth data executive vice-president Dechun Lin said: “The Foz do Amazonas 3D reimaging project will benefit from our in-depth knowledge of the Equatorial Margin and further expand our 3D data library offshore Brazil, which is already the most comprehensive in the industry.
