Aker Solutions has won a ‘sizeble’ contract from Wintershall Dea to provide subsea production system for the Dvalin North field development project offshore Norway.
Aker Solutions terms a contract ‘sizeble’ when the value of the deal ranges between NOK500m ($50.8m) and NOK1.5bn ($152.5m).
The Dvalin North development involves a subsea tie-back to the Heidrun platform, utilising existing infrastructure. This ensures future production volumes with low carbon intensity.
Under the terms of the contract, Aker Solutions will be responsible for the delivery of a subsea production system including three horizontal subsea trees and control systems, a four-slot steel subsea template with an integrated manifold system, three wellhead systems and associated tie-in and installation work.
Aker will also provide 10km of static subsea umbilicals. The firm plans to start work immediately with final deliveries scheduled for end-2025.
Aker Solutions subsea business executive vice-president and head Maria Peralta said: “This award demonstrates our strong capabilities in delivering tie-back solutions to increase production at existing areas in the most efficient and safe way.

By GlobalData“The Dvalin North field was the largest discovery in Norway in 2021. With this award, we will help enable Wintershall Dea to continue to build on its existing position as one of the largest producers of Norwegian gas at a time when energy security is critical in Europe.”
Located around 200km off the coast of Northern Norway, the Dvalin North gas field is estimated to hold around 84 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The gas produced at the field is planned to be exported to Nyhamna near Kristiansund in mid Norway via the Polarled pipeline. The Dvalin North project is planned to start production in late 2026.
Wintershall Dea operates the Dvalin North field with a 55% share while Petoro and Sval Energi owns 35% and 10% stakes, respectively.
