Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation (Transco), is a Texas-based natural gas transmission company. The company’s principal activity is to provide natural transmission services throughout the states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey to the New York City metropolitan area. Transco operates about 10,300 miles of natural gas pipeline extending from the Gulf of Mexico to New York. The company also operates 45 gas compressor stations, five underground storage fields, and two liquefied natural gas storage facilities. The company provides services basically to the public utilities, municipalities, Public Service Enterprise Group, KeySpan Corporation, and Piedmont Natural Gas Company, which provide services to residential, commercial, industrial and electric generation end-users. Transco is a subsidiary of Williams Gas Pipeline, itself a subsidiary of The Williams Companies. The company is headquartered in Houston in Texas, the US.
