The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted a drilling permit to Wintershall Norge to carry out exploration in the North Sea.
Wintershall will use the semisubmersible rig Borgland Dolphin to drill well 35 / 11-18 from the facility in position 61°09`24.40" north and 03°20`38.09" east.
Prior to this, the drilling of wildcat well 6507 / 3-11 S for E ON E&P NORGE in production licence 650 will be completed.
The well will be drilled approximately 100km south-west of Florø and around 20km north-west of the Fram field located in the North Sea.
NPD said that the drilling programme for well 35 / 11-18 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 248, which was awarded on 4 June 1999 and is the second wildcat well to be drilled in the licence.
The licence is 60% held by Wintershall Norge, the operator, while the remaining 40% is owned by Petoro.
